Just as Ed's group start to gain the upper hand and despite the arrival of Greed, Father grabs the four sacrifices and uses them, along with Hohenheim, for his transmutation circle, absorbing all the souls in Amestris. This opens a giant gate flat on the surface of the Earth from which rises a giant Father. Then another gate opens in the sky with a giant eye looking out which Father calls "God" and pulls towards him.
